Irregular Crop

I am looking for some help. I am trying to crop an image, but I do not want the crop to be a square, I would rather it be a polygon/diamond-type of a crop. Is there a way to do this?

I have tried some cookie cutters, but they do not seem to work the way I want them to do.

I am using Vegas 4 and would prefer to use Vegas to do the cropping, instead of something like Photoshop.

Thanks for your time and help.
Brad

You'll probably want to use a mask. You can draw the mask as a still image in just about any photo editing software using black & white. Wherever you draw white, the image will show through; whevever you use black, the underlying tracks will show through behind the image. Load this still image on a track above the image you want to crop and then composite it with the track you want cropped by clicking the crooked arrow icon at the left edge of the screen.

Any symbol you use from any truetype font is a mask. Try your dingbat or wingdings fonts - find your shape in one of them - you're done. Just size it and go to properties to make the background solid colour and text colour transparent (the default is the opposite).
