No interface "lock" because you can have templates.
If you set it up the way you want:
Press CTRL+ALT+D+ a keyboard number 0-9. This stores the setup
Press ALT+that keyboard number to recall it.
If you want to see blocks rather than frames, go to Options>Prefs>General, and uncheck the "Draw Frames" box.

There's no way to show the media in the timeline the same way as Premiere does - the Options/Prefs/General/DrawAsWaveformsAndFrames applies to both video and audio, so if you blank the video, you also lose the audio waveforms. And, with it unchecked, the entire event is blank - you don't have an option to get a thumbnail at the beginning and end as you do in Premiere.

You get used to it; at least that's what I keep telling myself. Vegas still rocks.

you'll notice that Vegas updates it's thumbnails faster & "better" then most other programs do.

I wanted to change it the first time i did it, but after 2 weeks I found myself trying to change premire to look like Vegas. :)
