Yes, that is one of Vegas' good features. And you should preview, because the colors are noticeably different. You will usually see more contrast on the TV than you see on your computer monitor.

yes it is
1) you have to go from your 1394 card to an analogue/digital converter
this could be your camera--if it does this--or a converter box--around $300
***you run your firewire cable to it--if that's what it is called?
2) you run bnc cable to your monitor
3) your sound will come from your computer speakers---so you don't hook up sound
4) turn on your monitor feature from your preview screen
then you are good to go
using a monitor has made my life much easier using vegas
good luck

Only if you use your camera or another device that converts Firewire to analog such as canopus ADV100 or a DV deck.

I have a Sony GV-D900 thats hooked up to my computer via firewire and connect that to a monitor with the standard RCA jacks. I'm sure there may be a cheaper way but I had the equiptment and it works! =)

Andy,

I use my Sony Digital8 camcorder to convert the FireWire to analog. I connect a yellow/white/red Audio Visual cable from the camcorder to the TV, and my FireWire cable from the computer to the camcorder. It is probably better to leave the white and red audio wires unconnected, to avoid possible audio feedback to your microphone, if it is hooked up.
