It seems I can't go more than a few minutes without Vegas locking up (Not responding) It just hangs for no apparent reason. Is anyone here able to get through an editing session without the program locking up? If so, what's your secret?
It's pretty sad when I has to disable have the windows system to make use of Vegas. So far Version 12 seems to be the worst ever. I have never experienced so many crashes, 11 was better by far.
I have a Power Mac and Final Cut Pro. I still prefer editing in Vegas as Vegas is more visual on the timeline. Making DVD's though is a different matter, Apple has much better content for making DVD's; also, FCP's titling options are much better than New Blue's offerings.
I see version 12 (the new update is even worse) crashing more than version 11.
Thanks for the input. They say macs and mac programs never crash or have all the problems that Windows based do. Is that just a myth or is it true, or true to some degree at least?

Macs crash, and final cut crashes. I have crashed them both repeatedly. It is a myth that Mac users want you to think.
Now Mac is designed for specific hardware so the hardware crashes are less, but apple has been known to update QT and other software and break their own programs.
I've been within earshot of several FCP editors for a couple of years now. I know FCP has crashed when I hear them cursing or when I hear that special Mac rebooting sound. It definitely happens several times a day. And yet they've finished 3 long form docs over the last 6 years.
On the other hand, I don't think it's happening during renders. If that were the case we'd have bailed out by now.
Hmm - not to get too OT, but now the FCPX guys are claiming it's the 'fastest editor ever'... Blah - me thinks Apple sells a lot of product to toy collectors...
