I'd hate to have to have to spend WAY more $$ on sony vegas just to be able to edit the video.
Why would you want to buy a camcorder to edit the videos and the camcorder records in a non-editable format, I'm just curious. Even though Vegas / VMS and other companies are starting to support this format I don't know of one yet that can edit and actually re-render the video back into it's original H264 codec. Most of these programs convert the avchd to hd-mpeg2. Hd-mpeg2 is the native format that is recorded to the HDV camcorders (dv tape).
If you want to edit the videos then a cam that records in the hd-mpeg2 format would be a better choice (dv tape). HC3/HC5/HC7.
If you can't use tapes then I guess it would have to be a avchd cam.
