Is speech to text for subtitles usable??

I'm experimenting with Vegas to create youtube shorts (9:16). I tried the speech to text feature to generate subtitles, and it makes them, but the font size is 48, the subtitles don't even fit on the video. It seems useless unless I'm doing something wrong?

You can choose the adecuate "title preset" from the "Speech to text" window tool. If you don't like the default "Subtitles" preset, create another preset from the "Titles and text" media generator window.

For example, if you already have generated the subtitles in the timeline, open one of the text events, modify the font to your liking, and save it as a preset. Then you can transfer those properties to the other text events already in the same track using the "transfer text properties" button in the "Titles and text" window (to the right of the input text box). Next time you want to create subtitles from speech, just choose the preset you have saved.

For 9:16, font size 48 feels enormous to me, usually I end up with 8 or probably smaller, although it depends on how large you want the subtitle look.

Thanks for the clarification! I didn't realize that Subtitles was using the Titles & Text tool. Yes, I can make a preset with the correct text size and so on. The "crop background to text" feature is handy as well. Do you know of any way to make the generated subtitles in capital letters?
