Download the trial and see for yourself. It's fully functioning for (I think) 14 days. They now also sell a lite version with fewer tools.
I've bought and used every version of UltimateS since version 2. It's an absolutely indispensable tool for our shop. If you don't have it, now is a great time to get it with it being onsale. Do some searches on this forum to see what others think of it. And, best of all, the main developer is a regular on this forum, JohnnyRoy.

There is some cross functionality between USPro and the competing Excalibur but each does some unique things. When you realize the power of scripting and "remote-controlling" Vegas that these tools provide you just might wind up getting both.

Hi Malcom, David's idea of downloading the trials of both packages is a good one. Ultimate S Pro and Excalibur are both good tools to have in your kit. We (VASST) don't run sales on our software very often so the 20% is a good deal.

Here are some tutorial videos that will give you a good idea of the capabilities of the Ultimate S Lite version. We are working on videos for all of the tabs in the Pro version now (be sure to watch them in HD):

I would watch the videos before installing the trial so that you can really understand how the tools work. The 14-day trial has no limitations or watermarks of any kind. Use it for 2 weeks on a project and see what you think. You have full support during that time so feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

[Edit] Sorry, I didn't mean for all the videos to be embedded like that. I just wanted to make text links but the forum keeps interpreting them as embedded video. (Yikes!)

I have had it since ver. 2 and just love it. The photo montage tool alone for me has been worth the cost.

Try it out, and I think you'll get in love :-)

It's a must have in my tool kit. A big time saver and has actually improved my product with the innovative options it provides. Definitely a bargain at standard price. Getting it on sale is just icing on the cake.

Looks interesting... site says it supports V 8.0b, I have 8.0c so do I presume that is also supported?

Thanks.

Yes. I'm running 8.0c and it works fine.

I just added it to my kit after using Excalibur for a year, and both are terrific tools...JohnnyRoy, the videos are very nice and indispensable for first time users. Now if one of these tools would incorporate PluralEyes into their box...

I have used Excalibur's multi-cam tool for all my performance edits and it has been a real time saver, but now with PluralEyes doing the syncing and UltimateS doing the split screen, I may have sped up my workflow.

I have both Excalibur and UltS. As noted above there is a bit of cross over and repetition but both have some unique features about them, and BOTH get used quite heavily with each project I do. I don't even really consider either one of them "extensions" anymore but rather a necessary part of the Vegas pro package and Vegas would be incomplete without them.

Thank you all for your input.
As time to run a trial before the offer expired was short, I relied on your enthusiasm and my viewing of demos to make a decision.
I purchased in the last hour. Now to start learning some more tricks.

Malcolm

PS. Can someone please advise the best way to save the demos for future reference?

> "Is the current Ultimate S deal a good investment?"

As a tool? Indispensable

As a "deal"? Of course - that kinda follows from my first statement?

Rob Franks hit it on the head, but I;d like to add that HAVING UliSPro provides me with such creative tools that as I learn more about it - and you WILL! - you can think: "Oh, but I can do THAT with UliSPro no problem!" - It is having this added freedom to immediately try something out that is the real bonus.

If the marketers at VASST are producing a "lite" version, then that's an indication of just how they are aware of the need to "bend" to the wants and requirements of the growing editor's repertoire and capabilities. And if that IS the case then maybe they are considering additional creative packages to come along too?

VASST is a forward thinking and "listening" company, that eagerly responds to the needs of us and makes "this" particular learning-editor feel confident in knowing that it is a company with much more to offer. I liked this about Vegas and its philosophy, and the same is starting to bare fruit for me using VASST products too.

The Tutorials are a great way to start getting involved with the toolset, which is immense! I still get "Uh-huh" moments watching them, when I realsie just how much MORE I can accomplish with the UliSPro tools. And Johnny, with his easy, relaxed and appealing way, makes this even more gratifying. I feel he is speaking directly to me. It is not often you can witness me being silent!

So, back-on-track with the your OP, having that "deal" just makes your buying decision a no-brainer - really?

Yes, well, after sitting on the fence for so long, I finally bit the bullet and went for the deal. In the excitement, I thought I might as well download all the freebies too! Took me a little while to figure out the reason they weren't showing up in V9 is because most of them are only up to V8!*! Duh!

As well as USpro, i thought I'd get Gearshift and the TrakPak deal too.

Can't wait to start playing with them but I'm in the middle of a couple of projects at the moment and don't want to mess things up by playing with my new toys.
