Is there a feature "fill blank space with still image" ?

Hi.
Movie Edit Premium 18.02.233 has a cool feature called "fill blank space with still image" which I have found useful when making a tutorial video.

Right-clicking on a space on the timeline in between two objects instantly creates a still image of the last frame of the first object. Very handy.

I can't seem to see a similar feature on Vegas 15 pro. I can take a snapshot of the last frame, name it, add it to the media pool then drag it to the timeline, but the process is a little tedious if repeated many times.

So - is this feature somewhere on Vegas, and if not, is there a free script available that does this?

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, I've been using Vegas for just a month. Thank you.

Disable loop for the event (right click/properties -> remove tick from "loop") and just extend to the right.

klt, that only works if you're on the last frame of the clip of that event.

It sounds like what you are asking for would require a script to accomplish but could certainly be done via a script.

jetdv, indeed it works only so. I understood the OP needs this.

If he needs a frame other than the last frame, can be a wourkaround if he creates a subclip which ends on that frame. Or try Vegasaur freez- frame (Effects/Freeze frame - with split video option).

Thanks @klt , looks like a good workaround. I will investigate that. And your other options.

In MEP though, you don't have to be on the last frame, you just right-click in the space in between two clips. I just made a short demo vid illustrating this process - it's really simple to do and a lovely feature. Great for extending a tutorial when I'm adding the voice-over:

As klt said, another option is to add a Velocity Envelope and then drop the velocity to 0 at that point. Then you can extend it as long as you want. You will need two points - one at 100% the frame before and one at 0% the next frame. My script, Excalibur, will certainly do that for you as will other commercially available scripts.

Grateful thanks to @klt and @jetdv for your help. Suggestions from both of you worked. I found the best way to do it was a mixture of two suggestions above:

Navigate to end of clip (]),

Go back 1 frame (alt/left arrow),

right-click,

select "insert/remove envelope",

then "Freeze Frame at cursor" .

Then I dragged the clip along and it continued as a still of the last frame.

Works a treat guys - thank you!! I've tagged it as a solution.

 

PS @jetdv , I downloaded and installed Excalibur 6, but I can't seem to access it via Vegas. How do I get it to show up?

Excalibur will be under View - Extensions - Excalibur.
