Is there a "more pro" version of Vegas?

I was talking on the phone with an old friend of mine, he does video work for his church, and he said they use a Vegas 9.

I told him Vegas 7 was the newest version, he said it was pro version that cost several thousand. I told him I didn't think that was right, but he swears that's what it was.

Is there a more expensive version of Vegas 9 out there? And he wasn't talking about Movie Studio vs. what I call "pro or full".

I'm guessing he's wrong, it was just a weird conversation...

He's wrong.

Unless you're talking to him a couple of years into the future ;)

I would bet dollars to donuts that he was mistaking Pinnacle Studio 9 for Vegas 9.

Pinnacle Studio 9 is only $80 -- not thousands...

Seems unlikely. Studio doesn't cost "several thousand, (in fact, it costs much less than Vegas), is past version 9, and certainly would not be considered "pro" software.

I asked him to email me a link to what he's talking about.

I'll post here what it ACTUALLY is.

:)

And as far as the future comment, that could be it. I could be future dibbkd talking to him...

Ask him to read you some stock prices or game results.

The only more 'pro' Sony NLE than Vegas is Xpri and that's more than 'a few thousand'.
Hm, maybe that's a thought. Rebadge Vegas as Xpri LE?

OK - mystery solved.

He does use Vegas 7, but also a program called LightWave

He apparently has a bunch of different editing apps and just got mixed up.

I got a Z 9 ,,yea thats it, I'll sell him for several thousand more than say a z1 , or possibly a xl9 ,super duper pro camera!! Cams can only be used with Vegas 9

For the record, Lightwave is a 3d app, not an editing app.

Mobile XPRI for a laptop could be "acquired" in that price range if the Sony Boardcast loved you for your eng-cameras purchases....... of course, that is a quess, can't remember much over 60 minutes...............

There IS a pro version of Vegas just released that is version 9b. You can have it by putting $2000 in used twenties in a plain vanilla envelope and mailing it to me at PO Box MS1, Los Angeles, California.

Enjoy.

well, I'll take it favored or plain............$2000 is sweet enought without too much flavoring.

I have noticed that Vegas becomes more of a professional application the more I use it <g>
