Is there a way to draw multiple masks in one clip?

Hi all,

so I have this clip of a stopmotion of a paper town skyline that kids have made. The sky above the roofs is cut out by a mask to reveal a nightsky pic. However, I need more masks to cut out some parts of the buildings. I can draw them OK but I can't close their paths, the first mask is the only one active , I cannot seem to add any more.

Is this how the tool is designed or am I missing something here?

thanks!

Make sure you have closed the first mask and use the Anchor creation tool (the first pen shape under the cursor arrow on the left) to start a new mask.

well that's exactly what I did adn described. The first mask is closed and active, but I cannot close any more masks I make, "close path" for the new independent mask is greyed out.

You accidentally unselected the mask while drawing it. I am not at my comp atm, but you might need to start a new mask and complete it. Do not remember how to add points connected to existing mask.

Here is a screen capture of me manipulating masks. Maybe it will show something.

Thanks a lot everobody, I finally got it to work. I had to make new preset shapes, (circles and squares) and add points to those, as for some reason, the shapes I drew myself would never close.

One more thing learned, one more problem solved :)

Thanks!
