After closing Vegas, the last saved file is what it remembers.

If you are using V13 and Windows 7, you could check the following location for other backup .veg file versions that Vegas makes:

C:\Users\PC\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\13.0

It is also always handy to check that location when your Vegas crashes.
Usually Vegas makes a backup file just before crashing.

Sort the files by 'date' the latest file on top/or bottom will be the latest saved .veg file.

Len, if you use the Auto Save (free but installed with Excalibur) custom command, it will save a series of backups every x minutes and you can then revert back to any point in the edit process.

" Is there a way to "revert" to previous save point?" You mean a way other than using the Undo command while the current project is open?

"If I go and click on the previous veg file, it goes through the rather lengthy process of loading all the files, etc."I think the op is asking about the time it takes to re-open a saved project, not necessarily how to save them.
The time it itaks to unpack one image and load it as raw bits into memory, say in Photoshop, is completely dwarfed by the time it takes to unpack TENS OF THOUSANDS of images from a video to raw bits for editing in Vegas.

Short answer: the decoded video frame are stored in memory buffers. They are not magically "retained" somewhere when the application closes, so the answer is no.

SAVE EARLY, SAVE OFTEN.

Yes, MusicVid answered the question. Thank you. I know about the veg files, but as mentioned, waiting for all the files in some of my videos to load takes (what seems like) forever.

And using "undo" can likewise take many clicks and time.

That would be a great feature for Sony to add!

JetDV...What is Excalibur, please?

There is Restore command in Vegasaur's Backups module

I'm afraid there isn't enough memory to do what you want on any system.
.veg files are just a set of instructions and occupy very little space.

Thank you. I have Vegasaur. I'll check that feature out.

Even better Sony Timeline Tools - gives you the differential backup
altarvic wrote on 5/31/2015, 3:38 PM
@videoITguy: small corrective - Timeline Tools is not Sony product...

Thank you for the Timeline reference. I had not heard of this before. I've downloaded/installed and will now try.

Len, I know what you are referring to, AVID MC and the old Avid Liquid pro have the feature you are referring to. There are many features these products have that I wish Vegas had, but that is what other 3rd party plug-ins do. I still do it the old fashioned way, save early and often with various edit points.

Len, just follow the link I included. Here's the base Excalibur page:

Excalibur was the first commercial script ever made for Vegas and provided the first Multi-Cam option for Vegas as well as many other features. (Disclaimer - I wrote it)
