Is there a way to split a stereo track into two separate tracks?

If I record a stereo track in Soundforge and save the file
in direct mode, then in Vegas Pro, open the .wav file, is
there a way to manage/edit each track of the stereo file as
though they were separate and distinct tracks?

i know i've split stereo tracks into 2 mono files in sound forge.
i'm not sure about vegas though.
i'm not at my DAW right now but here's what i remember about this
operation in sound forge:
1. select all.
2. hit the tab key to select the channel you want.
3. drag the selected channel to the work space/desktop.
4. a dialog comes up asking if you want a stereo or mono file.

once you get it all toegether in sound forge, bring it into vegas.
