Is there an easier way to create transitions?

In the videos I'm making, I'll be using copious identical transitions, that ideally will be of the same length as well as accompanied by a sound effect.

Right now, I crossfade the clips together, eye-balling the transition time to try and make it consistant with the other transitions, then I add the sound effect, also eye-balling where it starts from (so it syncs with the transition).

Granted, the process isn't that tedious, but if there's a faster way to do this, I'd love to know.

Ultimate S will not only make sure that every transition is of equal length, but you can also decide what transition you want to apply as you make them the same length.
You could then put in markers at each transition point, and tell Ultimate S to place that audio event(s) at those marker points, so you could process literally hundreds of transitions at one shot.
But it's not a free option.

I believe Neon does this too, minus the audio placement.

There is a shortcut to make a cut a crossfade and the transition time can be determined in the Options/Preferences menu.

This is another example of the simplified basic editing features Vegas should have addressed long ago, and is yet another example of why I bought Vegas 2 through 4, but refused to buy 5 in protest. I don't need bells and whistles if it is at the expense of the basics.
