Is there any one in the technical help department?

pilsburypie wrote on 7/20/2012, 4:06 AM
As with many others, I am having issues with my mpg2 1080 rendering on 11 pro. Not a deal breaker as I can render out to my other preferred format mp4. But I would like the option to render as mpg2.

I submitted this issue to Sony via their support page and got an automated response informing me how busy they were and there may be a delay in receiving a response. This was almost 3 weeks ago.

Has anyone read my submission? Is anyone likely to? Are they really that bogged down there is a 3 week+ backlog? I was expecting a bit better from "pro" program support. What time frame have others experienced?

Comments

My last three help requests, spread over the last two years, each took 30 days plus/minus five days. That seems suspiciously consistent to be a backlog. Perhaps they age the requests intentionally.

While you're waiting, why don't you describe your problem in more detail here?

What exactly are you rendering from and to, when exactly does the problem manifest?

You never know, there may well be someone who can help.

I am also appalled by the lack of response from technical support since the launch of V11. I submitted a query on the 15th March 2012 and here we are some sixteen weeks later and I have had absolutely no response. My query was relating to the continued app crash whenever I touched New Blue Titler Pro. This has resulted in removing everything “New Blue” in order to use the programme and awaiting some sort of response.

I'm rendering to mpeg-2 1080 50i and sometimes also 50p and up to some 32 Mbps - every day - and it always works.

As Peter wrote: let us hear about your setup, media and problems ?.

The lack of a timely response is, unfortunately, "normal".

[I was about to add that it's unacceptable but I can't honestly say that because I'm still using the product so I've obviously accepted it.]

Yes there is someone there...
I just received a response (after 2 months) showing me some methods to avoid crashes in VegasPro11 .... trouble was that my request was clearly for SoundForgePro10.
So the heart is beating, but the brain is dead.

Yes there is someone there. I asked over the past three years "how do I" in Vegas, and got a response within three days. I have never asked SCS to fix my PC.

There, I said it.
Not back to editing and my self-imposed exile from the forums.

I submitted a legit Vegas problem by email back in late December.
It took them almost 2 months to reply.

I submitted another 2-3 weeks ago.
I'm guessing it will be the same thing or worse.

NEVER have seen this kind of lag with ANY other software site support.
But I'm unfortunately used to this with SCS now...

"Perhaps they age the requests intentionally."

Maybe to weed things out.
But that still does .

Gosh Steve, you are an extremely lucky Vegas user. Not only don't you have any problems using Vegas 11, you also get responses from SCS with a mere few DAYS!
Plus you have a computer that works and is set up correctly!

I guess that's the problem, the rest of us idiots have broken or incorrectly set up PC's and SCS doesn't feel any urgent need to tell us how to fix them, I mean, really, that's not their job, is it?

You are truly Special! (but I'm sure you hear that a lot)

I guess if Steve had been on the Titanic, it would not have sank. :)

Steve was on the Hindenburg..... reported it was a Lovely cruise.

paul_w & Rv6tc - Now, now... boys, let's not go SVNPES*-ing on too much (*the affliction of having "Sony Vegas No Problems Envy Syndrome"). Though I'll admit to some of that considering his charmed life in his parallel Sonyverse. Maybe he'll share the coordinates to that secret wormhole with the rest of us... ;D

4 weeks sine my question to SCS now. No reply. If I sign my question Steve Mann, do you think they will reply in 3 days?!

Been away so not responded to the request to share my issue. I did post this a short while back but kind of got the answer that didn't really work - here goes:

I record my footage as 1080 50p. I want to render as either mpg2 or mp4. Some one is bound to inform me that mainconcept doesn't support 1080 50p but in Vegas pro 10 I had no issues rendering 1080 50p to either of these. But in VP11 I get the following message instantly if I render to mpg2. "an error occurred and the reason for this error could not be determined"

I also for the first week had the same message appear after a few seconds of rendering as mp4 if I included audio. Would you believe that this just rectified itself? Now I'm sure you are thinking I updated a driver, did this, did that, but it really was a self rectification on the mp4 side of things. So at least now I can actually render my footage to 1 format.

I don't suffer from SVNPES, I suffer from HTTP Hatred Syndrome. (Holier Than Thou P*****)

I'm glad there are people that have no problems with Vegas, that's the way it's supposed to be for everyone! I do have an intense burning desire to shove my boot into someone's mouth when they suggest that I'm s-t-u-p-i-d, don't know what I'm doing, have a defective or cheap computer, or just not worthy to be in the same forum as them.

It actually astounds me how self-righteous and ego-maniacal certain people can be! I mean even if Steve didn't mean it the way it sounded (which I highly doubt) surely if he has enough intelligence to compose a sentence, he should supposedly have enough common sense to realize what his comments come across like. Geez! From my native land of New York we have a name for people like that, but unfortunately SCS forums prevent me from sharing it.

Oh and please, maintain your self-imposed exile. I like my forums populated with common, down-to-earth type folks, which everyone else here fortunately seems to be.
Rv6tc wrote on 7/29/2012, 9:06 PM
I'm with you Leee. The "There... I've said it" was a level of hubris that really pisses me off. The assumption that I, or the others having issues aren't intelligent enough to build/configure our computers to his Ivory Tower standards.....

When I was an Air Force pilot, we had a saying.... "I'd rather be lucky than good." We were just smart enough to know the difference.

I'll shut up now.

now my Support Ticket has been promoted to "Solved"

What the .... ? Seems I have been transported to a parallel universe.

Did any of those V11 fixes fix your V10 ?

geoff
ChristoC wrote on 8/6/2012, 10:18 PM
I fail to see how a VegasPro11 fix repairs a problem with SoundForgePro10, notwithstanding that I had no particular problem with VP11 in the first instance!
So the answer is no!
I did however manage to solve the SoundForgePro10 problem myself with a registry hack to the ASIO section ....

Sorry - thought you meant V10 ....
