No.
And I sure wish there was.
I've captured 17 tapes and the client is asking for DVDs with burnt in TC. Pretty useless without burnt in tape numbers as well. What's worse is when I've added the tape numbers by hand it takes a bit to get it to match how the TC FX does it and that blows out the render time considerably.

That would be a very nice addition to a future version of Vegas. Overlay the tape name, as displayed in the detailed project media view. The basic work is all done in the TC FX. Shouldn't be all that much work to make it so.

Well, interestingly enough Bob, that's the way I was leaning.

HDVsplit can title your scenes according to the count, word title..... OR..... the date shot... year, month, day, hour, minute, second. I usually capture with the date. Now if there were simply an easy way of overlaying the title onto each scene..........

You could try the QuickLabel tool in Excalibur and see if that does what you're wanting.

YUP!!

Quick label works!

We now have an answer... or at least a work around for getting the event time/date stamped onto the events!

- Split your scenes with HDVsplit and set up the labeling for the date shot
- Then use quick label to overlay it onto the scenes.

BTW.... thanks Edward..... I didn't even think to open Excal and look.... great little plugin!

That might almost be useful. You could setup your camera(s) so that first tape has date set to 01/01/01 etc. You can do the same by following a pretty standard procedure of having TC start at 1:00:00;00 for Tape 1 etc. Of course the wheels fall off that idea after Tape 23!

I'm interested in how Excalibur writes this label into the vision, as we've been told several times scripts cannot access the text generator in Vegas.

I didn’t test it but you should have a look at DvGate from Paul Glagla

Bob, it doesn't use a text generator. You can see a video how it works on my website. Just go to http://www.jetdv.com/excalibur55 and look at the Quick Label video.
