is there ANY way to have 320x240?

using dvd-a? i tried to let dvd-a recompress my file, with disastrous results. my source files are 320x240, making them bigger is not necessary. and its a low bitrate too, so when dvd-a blows it up to 720x480, it looks horrible. the bitrate is 863 kbit/sec, which allows me to fit 11 hours of video on the dvd. the output is surprisingly decent, it doesnt degrade my source files noticeably. of course, the source files are pretty low bitrate. i really like the layout of this program, and i would like to use it for my project, but if i cant do 320x240 (which IS a standard dvd size) then i'll have to use something else. can anyone help? thanks

I don't know if this will work with DVD-A, but there is a program called DVD-Patcher that can change the header info and 'trick' some authoring programs into accepting the files. This link is to DVDhelper and has a couple of guides on how the program is used:

that didnt seem to work well. guess i will just have to use something else. i would prefer to use dvd-a, i really like the layout of it. however, the output video after re-encoding looks really, really awful. thanks for the reply.

You didn’t say what codec your source files are. Are they MPEG1 or MPEG2? Unfortunately, 320x240 is not a valid DVD format. 352x240 in either MPEG1 or MPEG2 is a valid format but you would still have to re-encode your file to resize it to 352 not 320. I don’t think any software is going to make a DVD of these files without re-encoding them so that a set top DVD player can read them.

You may want to try and resize them in Vegas using a Gaussian Blur of 0.002 and Super Sampling set to 2 or 4. I’ve had good success taking 320x240 video up to 720x480 using this technique. You can read about how to do this in Douglas Spotted Eagle’s tutorial on Super Sampling.
