Is this an accident or not ?

Let' see if I can explain this...
I like to find a clip in the exlorer window in Vegas, I double click it to put it in the Trimmer. Then to select the area of video I need, I left click and hold as I drag over the trimmer to highlight the shot I need. Then I drag the highlighted area onto the timeline.

NOW something different if happening...but I like it.

Instead of left clicking+hold and dragging to select the clip, the click+hold seems to be locked on...then I make my selection just buy moving the mouse back and forth freely and then RIGHT click to release the selection cursor. I swear this wasn't what I was doing before....is this right ?

Did I change something ? Hope this makes sense.

"Luke - feel the Force!"

Yeah kinda neat eh? You can also hold down the shift key as you scrub the Trim cursor and Highlight that way too! Just tried all this cursor lock in V4 . .nope, not there!

However, when I double click on an Explorer clip it jumps straight to T/L not Trim . .

"double click on an Explorer clip it jumps straight to T/L not Trim "

That's the 10th preference under the General Tab Preferences you can modify.

You've entered the Twilight Zone of Microsoft Windows - We're here to help you.
It sounds like you have turned on sticky keys by accident. (If you hold the shift key down for five seconds, you will turn on the sticky keys). The mouse, insert and delete keys also take on new meanings.

You can't really turn the feature off, but go into control panel, accessibility options. You can set the individual sticky key actions to do nothing.

Hmmmm......It's not doing it today......weird. Oh well.

Musta been sticky keys. Last time I encountered that was spilling beer on the keyboard.
