Is This Beta?

dennis-crawford wrote on 12/13/2017, 8:42 PM

I skipped 14, just upgraded to 15. And, we're back --- niggling little problems - is this beta???

Click on fx in a timeline event, and pan/crop opens with fx panel over top of it... select the fx you want, and it doesn't get added to the pan/crop window, and it's BIG PAIN. Sorry, but you're losing, Magix....

Nop. VP15 is not in beta. Working fine here. FX chain is added to pan/crop .. I've been running VP15 about 2 weeks now with great success .. I think I've crashed it once so far .. I've been using the same i7‑3930K 6 core PC for video editing since VP13 and VP15 seems the smoothest yet, including better playback. Using same old GTX560Ti video card too.

Glad it works for you. Wish it didn't take 2-3 trys to add the fx I wanted to the pan/crop controls. It's just quirky. (not to mention installation blasts a bunch of other stuff - like Titler Pro 4, but that's another issue...)

Check your .NET Framework is up to date. And yes, working fine here.

It's the first I've read of this issue.

Can we rule this out as the problem?... If you already have FX on your event/track etc., you need to click "Add" to add another, not "OK".

+ 1 Nick 😏

Fresh boot - launch VP15 - new project - add one event to media bin - drag/drop event into timeline.

Click fx for whole track, only fx(event chooser) window opens - works 'normally'

Click the fx button on the event, pan/crop opens, and fx(event chooser) pops up on top of it. Add an effect (for example, white balance, etc) and close the event chooser. Pan/crop stays open, so I have and extra 'thing' to deal with.

If opening both windows is the 'new normal', when I close the window who's button I picked originally (IOW, I'm done), both windows should close. (Actually, they do, but only sometimes.... quirky.) As it is, I have extra window(that I didn't want) to deal with.
Another quirk - my added fx is not always added - sometimes have to try 2x.

Yes Nick, I know the add routine. Yes Grazie, latest .net framework.
Thanks.

Pan/Crop and Video Event FX controls share the same window these days. When you close the FX chooser pop-up window after adding an FX, the [Pan/Crop/Video Event FX] window stays open with the FX selected and its controls showing.

Is that what you're seeing?

dennis-crawford wrote on 12/14/2017, 9:24 AM

Yes - the problem is that the chosen fx aren't always added, and the pan/crop window doesn't always close.

NickHope wrote on 12/14/2017, 9:26 AM

The pan/crop window shouldn't close, as it's the same window that displays your FX controls. You just choose either pan/crop or FX controls by clicking either in the chain at the top of the window.

After adding an FX, it's normal to want the FX's controls to show. Or are you saying that the display in that window does not automatically switch over the FX's controls?

Normal:
1)click 'fx' on timeline event
2) 2 windows open (pan/crop & fx chooser)
3) select & add wanted fx (they're now in chain)
4) click ok, pan/crop closes and video event fx window appears (in chain: pan/crop plus whatever you added)
I'm good with all that - it's normal, and if it always worked that way, I'm happy. But, it's not always working that way:

Not normal ver. 1(~10% of time):
1)click 'fx' on timeline event
2) 2 windows open (pan/crop & fx chooser)
3) select & add wanted fx (they're now in chain)
4)click ok, fx window disappears, pan/crop stays open, no fx in chain

Not normal ver. 2(~20% of time):
1)click 'fx' on timeline event
2) 2 windows open (pan/crop & fx chooser)
3) select & add wanted fx (they're now in chain)
4)click ok, pan/crop stays open, video event fx window appears (in chain: pan/crop plus whatever you added)
5)close video fx window, pan/crop still open - must close manually

If I understand this right, I cannot recall seeing the "not normal" behavior described above in VP15 yet. I just ran a test run of about 20 times adding FX. Did not see "not normal" behavior.
