Well, the program is not even a year old and it maintains a faithful following -- so it's far from dead.

Updates and bug fixes is a tricky business, especially when a new operating system has recently been introduced. You can go crazy trying to get the program running perfectly on any of millions of configurations on three different versions of Windows. Especially when, more often than not, the problems are related to the individual configurations rather than the program itself.

So, yes, I'd certainly like to see some things fixed. But Vegas remains one of the most stable Windows-based high-end apps.

No updates for a long time now.

This from a person with only 3 posts who earlier wrote:

And so what!

Hi Jarud,

Please excuse those folks for whom the program works, they can often be critical of the folks for whom the VMS program does not work. In addition, they often give the standard responses as to why the program does not work:
"Sony can't be expected to write software that works for all computers" or "You can fix the problems by 'upgrading/downgrading' your computer and installing various (often expensive) video format converters (so that VMS can handle the same codecs that it did in earlier versions)".

I think these same folks would feel differently if VMS was not working for them. You see, VMS 8 Platinum worked for me (slowly) so I bought VMS 10 Platinum which no longer worked. No one seems to think this is unusual or strange. My computer is standard issue Dell i7 hardware (nothing strange or unusual). I have contacted Sony about this many times and they responded response, "We know about the problem and a fix is imminent". That response was last June.

I submitted a new question to Sony about whether I could get my money back since they are no longer supporting their VMS software and have not posted the promised "fix". That was a week and a half ago, I'll let you know when they respond.

Take care.

As an occasional poster on this forum for whom VMS does work I'd just like to say that I do not feel that Sony's lack of support is normal or acceptable. There are software companies that issue patches prompty and regularly when bugs are discovered and who also contribute to their user forums. After all, the people who provide answers on these forums are effectively subsidising the company.

Thanks TOG62,

It is nice to hear a support from someone who is not having problems with VMS. I realize that 'probably' more than 50% of the folks who bought VMS 10 are able to use the program right out of the box. But I would bet that there are so many folks who ARE having problems with the current version of VMS, that Sony has decided to stop supporting the program.

I bought the program directly from Sony and had I bought it from a local software store (like Microcenter), I would have returned it for a refund. Since Sony has decided not to support VMS 10 with any updates, I have asked for a refund. Keep in mind that I have waited since I was told by Sony support (back in June 2010) that a "fix" was "imminent" to ask for a refund. I think 10 months is long enough to wait for an "imminent" fix, don't you?

It would be nice to think they would do the right thing and give refunds to everyone who is experiencing problems with VMS 10. Of course, as another poster pointed out, VMS 10 represents less than .000001% of Sony gross receipts. If course, this is not about Sony's money, this is about the customer's money and support.

Thanks again!
