Is VMS 9 Better with Large Photos?

VMS 8c is crashing while rendering a 35-min .AVI that includes 420 8-10 Mp (2Mb) photos. Rather than downsize all these photos to avoid the crash, would VMS 9 or VMS9P be better at rendering (no crash) with the large photo files since it manages larger HD Video files? Or are VMS 9 and VMS 9P the same basic engine as VMS 8?

Thanks, Curt

Download the trial version find out, and let us know too.

Well I did, and the news is very good.

I downloaded the trial versions of VMS 9P and DVDA4.5a and reloaded my 420 full-size 7-10 Mp, 2-3Mb photos into the source directory. With rendering threads set to 4, I rendered the project to a hard drive .AVI file, and again to MPEG-2, Default Template, then a third render to MPEG-2, DVDA NTSC Widescreen video screen.

In each case, I got a perfectly rendered file with no system crashes. This is in contrast with render crashes every time with VMS 8c for the same project. VMS 9P seems better with the large photo files so you do not have to reduce their size to use them in a DVD project.

(but I still haven't found the .ac3 audio file menu choice, so I'll do my project using the .AVI file)

I don't believe .AC3 is available in the trial installation due to licensing issues. I believe SONY has to pay Dolby Labs a licensing fee for every .AC3 activation even in free trials, so they disallow it until you've paid them something.

Thanks Chienworks. That's easy to fix. I still wonder why .ac3 wasn't showing up in my VMS 8c. But since VMS 9P is doing what I need, I'll buy the upgrade. The 5.1 sound looks nice too.
