Isolating & eliminating noise...

I recorded a speech using a lapel & a shotgun mic (just for practice so nothing important). The shotgun mic picked up the audio but the distance was around 65 feet away from the speaker. The lapel did excellent...when it received signal. There are about 8 places in a 45min speech where the audio cuts out on the lapel. I want to normalize the audio fromt he shotgun, isolate the noise from normalizing and eliminate that while keeping the speech so I can plug that into the dead spots. The noise is constant noise without any variation that I can tell. It shows up as a thick middle line with small peaks (which are the speaker's voice being picked up). Is there a way to get rid of this thick middle line noise while leaving the peaks and keeping the volume?
Thanks,
