issue with loop regions

Sorry for the odd subject title, but I couldn't think of any other way to describe it. Whenever I click on the edge of an event to trim it a loop region is formed (the length of the event) and the cursor moves to the edge of the event. Unfortunately, a loop region is not what I wanted so I have to move the loop handles over to one side, reposition the cursor and try again. It usually takes two or three tries before I can actually trim the event. It is driving me insane. As you can imagine, even the silliest little video for youtube is taking me hours of extra effort.

This didn't happen when I was using Vegas 6. I have disabled 'enable looping on events by default' in the preferences and have tried my mouse on different applications to see if it has somehow developed the habit of double-clicking on a left click. No joy.

My apologies if this has come up in a forum post before - I did a search and nothing came up.

One thing that some people suggest when others have difficulty with loops, if to use 'I' and 'O' to set your "loop" to no length = no loop.See if that helps you out.

You can ignore the loop regions completely if you wish. They have no effect while you're moving the mouse around during editing. Just pretend they're not there and they won't interfere at all. The only time they might have an effect is while you're playing the preview or rendering. You can turn off looping for preview or uncheck "render loop region only" and then loop regions will have no effect during those times either.

Okay, it's almost midnight and I think I've sorted it out. Mouse issue. I have just tried my graphics tablet and the loop regions weren't appearing.

Sorry for the hassle!
