Issues with disabled legacy AVC decoding and AMD integrated graphics

Hi all,

I have big issues with Vegas Pro 22 and the preview of the videos during editing. Detailed info (test scenarios) can be found at the end of this post. First, the basic conclusions: I use in integrated graphics card (AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics, latest driver). The source material comes from a DJI pocket 2 (DJI Pocket 2, Format: AVC, 2720 x 1530, 50P).

Leaving Enable legacy AVC decoding: unchecked and Hardware Decoder To Use: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (my test scenario 01) editing videos ist not possible at all. The system crashes nearly immediately. With Hardware Decoder To Use: OFF (test scenario 02) the editing itself basically works (i.e. stable without crashes), but is stuttering. Not extreme, but very annoying.

With Enable legacy AVC decoding: checked however (and this to my understanding nothing we are aiming for) the preview becomes buttersmooth. One could say, ok, then this is your solution. But with this setting I have other issues when it comes to rendering longer projects (say > 50 minutes, audio drops). I don't have these rendering issues for the above mentioned test scenario 02.

I wonder, if someone uses the same (or similiar) AMD CPU with integrated Graphics and experiences the same issues ? Any help is really appreciated. Of course, I would share my video files (and *.veg file, 10 secs duration) if required

My test scenarios in detail:

Windows 11 Pro (23H2)
Vegas Pro 22 (Build 122)
Prozessor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics
Driver Driver (Adrenalin Edition) : 24.9.1
Video-Source: DJI Pocket 2, Format: AVC
Video resolution: 2720 x 1530, 50P
Video Preview Quality: Good (Full), 100%
No effects used, except for a transistion between two events

Test scenario 01
Video Tab:
Dynamic RAM Preview: 5% (1606 MB of 32129 MB)
Maximum number of rendering threads: 32
GPU acceleration of video processing: Optimal - AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
File I/O Tab:
Enable legacy AVC decoding: unchecked
Hardware Decoder To Use: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
Result:
-> Preview extremely stutters for a few seconds,  then freeze frame, preview becomes black, followed by a total crash
-> Editing not possible at all

Test scenario 02
Video Tab:
Dynamic RAM Preview: 5% (1606 MB of 32129 MB)
Maximum number of rendering threads: 32
GPU acceleration of video processing: Optimal - AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
File I/O Tab:
Enable legacy AVC decoding: unchecked
Hardware Decoder To Use: OFF
Result:
-> Annoying stuttering (extreme for the transition zone), but stable, no crashes
-> Editing possible, but annoying

Test scenario 03
Video Tab:
Dynamic RAM Preview: 5% (1606 MB of 32129 MB)
Maximum number of rendering threads: 32
GPU acceleration of video processing: OFF
File I/O Tab:
Enable legacy AVC decoding: unchecked
Hardware Decoder To Use: OFF
Result:
-> Same as for Test scenario 02

Test scenario 04
Video Tab:
Dynamic RAM Preview: 5% (1606 MB of 32129 MB)
Maximum number of rendering threads: 32
GPU acceleration of video processing: Optimal - AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
File I/O Tab:
Enable legacy AVC decoding: checked
Hardware Decoder To Use: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
Result:
-> Buttersmooth preview, little stuttering in the transition zone

Test scenario 05
Video Tab:
Dynamic RAM Preview: 5% (1606 MB of 32129 MB)
Maximum number of rendering threads: 32
GPU acceleration of video processing: Optimal - OFF
File I/O Tab:
Enable legacy AVC decoding: checked
Hardware Decoder To Use: OFF
Result:
-> Same as for Test scenario 04

Thank you!

I consulted again the Magix support with this issue. I don't see my system / harware configuration as too exotic. And this is why I wonder if someone else with similar specs has this issue...
