Issues with Vegas 19 & 20

Nizar-AbuZayyad wrote on 4/28/2023, 2:29 PM

If anyone from the forum can help.. I sent this email to the support team about problems im having in vegas 19 and 20
any help is much appreciated.

Dear Support Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance with recurring problems I've encountered while using Vegas 19 and 20.

One of the primary issues I face is the persistent prompting for software updates. Every time I open the program, it requests that I update it, even if I have already attempted to do so. When I perform the update, the software shuts down automatically. However, upon restarting Vegas, I am again prompted to download the same updates I previously installed. This cycle continues, and I am unable to utilize the software without these constant interruptions.

Secondly, both Vegas 19 and 20 have started freezing unexpectedly over the past week. The programs become unresponsive, and the only way to close them is through the Task Manager. I am confident that my computer is not the issue, as it boasts top-tier specifications, including an i9 processor, 64GB RAM, and an RTX video card with 12GB of RAM.

Furthermore, I've encountered difficulties in launching the software. When I click the desktop icon, the program often does not open. Sometimes, I have to click 5 to 6 times for it to start, and even then, it may not launch. I have already set the priority for Vegas to "high" in the Task Manager, but these issues persist.
As a paying subscriber who has invested around $250 for a seamless user experience, I kindly request your assistance in resolving these problems. I would appreciate any guidance or fixes you can provide, particularly with updating my software to the latest version. If these issues remain unresolved, I may reconsider renewing my subscription for the next year.

Please note that the pictures i was able to upload for the update issue only, i couldnt take any screenshots for the sudden freeze as it needs a video to show this issue, same with starting the software without response.

Try downloading directly:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-20-build-370--140254/

Then install from that direct download.

You might also try a "clean install" as shown here with VEGAS Pro 17:

@set cool .. i just successfully updated to build 402! thanks

Nizar-AbuZayyad wrote on 5/2/2023, 5:05 AM

@set any idea where in settings we can access and check these 2 new options?
- RAW processing with CUDA - Select a device for RAW processing

RogerS wrote on 5/2/2023, 5:21 AM

I think it's under preferences/ file io and botoh those things are one option @Nizar-AbuZayyad

Nizar-AbuZayyad wrote on 5/2/2023, 5:26 AM

@RogerS should i choose CUDA on NVIDIA for best performance? im not very familiar with the settings which best option to chose..

RogerS wrote on 5/2/2023, 5:29 AM

I can't answer that- this feature has been out for hours, I don't have a 3080 and I almost never shoot with raw footage myself (like Blackmagic Raw).

I'd leave it on the default though if you use raw footage and want to try CUDA see if it performs better or is more stable, go for it and let us know what you find.

Especially for BRAW, it is NOT a good idea to select an nvidia option (neither CUDA nor OpenCl), since BRAW and nvidia still does not work together in a nice way (you end up with black clips shown in the project). At the moment, this option for raw decoding is either usefull if you can select an i-GPU, or an AMD card.
