VMS has no problem with png's - so either something is off with the png's or its something you are doing.

I am not that versed in animation, but if you want an animation sequence why not just make a gif file and import that? (vegas does that too) ( I had a butterfly gif flying all around a clip once, when you composite it and zoom in and out it acts like a Z axis giving depth)

what program did you use to make the png's?

Rustier,

The animated layers are particle layers of a tornado for a clients intro. There are 3 unique layers and one I've doubled. I used Particle Illusion 3, brought them in as png files as I need them to have alpha layers. "Particle Illusion doesn't currently render into Alpha Channeled AVI's so this is the only option. When I bring them in I set them up and then hit play, the program gives me a critical error and shuts down.

I've tried several different things with no luck.

you might try picking the brains of some of the sluggers over in vegas. Even though you are using VMS someone there may be more familiar with compatibility issues.

have you tried a tiff format? tga? psd?

I am shocked vegas freezes for you- it is usually solid as a rock

good luck with it!
