DV video color space is defined by ITU601. HDV color space is defined by ITU709. I've been wondering how Vegas sets the color space, because there is no option to manually select it. Does Vegas recognize the difference?
I recall that ITU709 uses the full RGB color map, 0 to 255, while ITU601 uses 16-235(lab color). Please correct me on this if I'm wrong. If I record the HD110 generated color bars(generated in HDV mode of course) in Vegas and examine them in the Sony Waveform monitor, I see that the the color map is RGB 16-235. Is this correct? Shouldn't it be 0-255?
Does anyone know how Vegas selects the color space?
