IVTC source videos?

How can I blend two 1080 sources, one 24 fps progressive and the other 29.976 fps interlaced, so the latter is properly IVTC'ed down to 24 fps, ensuring the frame rates matched and the video isn't jagged?

Put another way, can I IVTC the 29.976 clip within Vegas Pro 22? If so, how? If not, what tool and settings will do the trick?

@LCB

Start with these settings in Vegas Pro.

If good enough, EOJ.

If you aren't happy with the result:

Try Handbrake, Happy Otter Scripts and/or start a long journey researching:

Thank you. Follow up question. Source files in .mkv container cause Vegas to hang when trying to import them. Is there a trick for getting Vegas to work with source mkv wrapped around VC-1 codec? Or do I need to convert everything to a friendlier format first?

@LCB VC-1 has never been supported. Use Shutter Encoder to transcode your source to some other format with a tolerable amount of loss. You could also experiment with some of the deinterlace options.
