If I'm reading the documentation correctly the "Smoothing" control in Basic mode corresponds to the "Musical Noise Reduction" control in the Advanced mode. ("Musical Noise" is the name they give to the underwatery and whistle-like artifacts that you get when you overdo the amount of noise reduction.)

You're making me feel really old now - I first saw them forty years ago when they were still called the "Strawberry Hill Boys" (though they'd been unofficially referred to as Strawbs for a while).

In those days I was still at school (only a couple of miles from Strawberry Hill) and was well into anything involving guitars and "folk". Saw them a couple of times in the late sixties, though unfortunately I never saw them during the brief time Sandy Denny was with them. Then again in the Wakeman era and a bit later when I was at University during their most commercially successful period ("Lay Down" and "Part of the Union"). I kind of lost interest in them after that but now you've reminded me that they are still touring I must make sure I catch them again.
