>How well does redunoise cope with non-white noise?
Try it! The demo will have short beeps or short silent pauses, but otherwise it is fully functional.
I use it to remove noise from fans in my home studio, to remove tape hiss on old recordings, wind and traffic noise from outdoor recordings. It has a lot of parameters you can tweak. I do not understand half of them, still I am very satisfied.
I have also developed an ear for the kind of artefacts these noise reducers sometimes produce, and I spot them even in professional recordings. This has thaught me that noise is better than artifacts, so I am more careful now than before.

I fully agree. "Natural" noise is preferable to unnatural chirps or burbles("musical noise" or "talking under water"). You shouldn't try to push noise reduction too far. It works best when the noise is already low to start with.
Can anybody tell something about efficiency of Sony Noise Reduction v.2 plugin (in comparision to other product like SoundSoap, Izotope, Goldwave) ? Does it have LEARN mode ? or graphical editing tools like MAGIC WAND ?
I know, that I can use free trial (I have dowloaded all soft which is mentioned in this topic and I'm going to go in tests) but I have no experience in audio restoration and would like to know others opinions.
Sony Noise Reduction v.2 is relatively expensive (about 250EUR) but it's included in Sound Forge PRO (upgrade from Studio about 330EUR). I have postponed decision about upgrade from Studio to PRO, but now have some tasks connected with audio and maybe it's good opportunity to buy PRO ?
Thanks guys, this is a great thread. I took some video the other week of a duet in Yoyogi Park (near Harajuku Station) that was almost ruined by some crickets. At the time of the recording the crickets didn't seem that loud and distracting.
Tried iZotope demo and it cleaned up all the cricket noise and also used it to clean up some background noise on a 2nd pass.
As others have mentioned, too much processing can cause the underwater or robotic effect but used sparingly has salvaged this video! I'm impressed. Tried Magix and didn't work nearly as well as iZotope.
Here's a short sample. Clip starts w/ noise reduction, w/ out noise reduction at 10 seconds:
Also, the video was done at late dusk and the girl was using a flash light to read her charts. The TM700 performed quite well for this very, very low light situation. Which is one of the reasons I purchased it. The camera has to be in Manual/Night mode, and must be held very steady. It's funny because my friend tried to video these two w/ a pocket cam and couldn't even pick up an image. ((:
I also added a little bit of Color Correction (2ndary).
BTW, the magic wand feature works well! I massively reduced a baby screaming and a loud sneeze later on in the video w/out effecting the music..
