iZotope RX2

I'm currently trying RX2, and like what I've seen so far.

But the files that my Panasonic TM700 produces are of course .MTS which have their sound-tracks embedded, and RX2 can't read these.

Could somone kindly tell me how to get round this? Does it mean that each of the .MTS files has to be converted to a .WAV file and then the .WAV files alligned on the time-line in place of the camera-recorded sound? This would obviously be very tedious and time-consuming.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The way that I do this is right-click on the audio in Vegas and select Open Copy in Sound Forge and then do all of my iZotope RX2 work in Sound Forge. This has the added advantage of keeping track of multiple takes and letting me experiment a bit non-destructively. You could also open the resulting WAV files in RX2 stand-alone too so this lets Vegas worry about making the WAV files for me. ;-)

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I only have Sound Forge Studio v10, and although the iZotope VST effects are visible in Tools/Preferences/VST Effects, I can't see how to invoke them and apply them to the WAV file that I've "imported" from Vegas.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge!

Thanks.

Right-click on the audio event on the Vegas timeline and select Open Copy in Sound Forge.

If you don't have this option, check Option | Preferences | Audio and look at Preferred audio editor and make sure that it's pointing to Sound Forge Studio v10.
