Good news - Could it have been anything to do with changing the playback rate in the Trimmer?

I guess a way to check is for me to change it back and see what happens (which I'll do - as I said earlier, I hate not knowing the cause).

It was probably a ham operator beeming a signal right through your house or maybe the "quintuple doppler weather radar" from the local tv station. If the radar antenna hapens to stop it will still transmit max power and if it hits the proper spot in your head your insides will be cooked. It might take a while though. If your like Howard Hughes just enclose the computer room with copper screening including floors and ceiling and doors and vents.

I'm afraid that effect doesn't occur in the Southern Hemisphere due to the Coriolis Effect throwing electron spin out.

Maybe it's the dirty great hole in the ozone layer sitting over here?
