Sony Vegas Pro 11 has a big problem, it seems. I did a video 3 months ago and the playback preview may have been a little shaky but not like now. At least it was usable.

I also have Vegas Movie Studio 11 that I had before upgrading to Vegas Pro 10-11 (maybe it was downgrading!). I just installed VMS, brought in all the files from the video I was using with Vegas Pro 11. No jerky playback preview that I was complaining about above.

The only reason I upgraded to begin with was for the 64 bit version so I could render large files. Now it looks like I will edit my project in VMS and render it in Vegas Pro. This doesn't even make sense.

Presumably you have data on a separate internal drive - not your system drive ?

geoff

Geoff, yes, my data that is used in my videos are always on a separate drive from the OS. Does that make a difference? I wouldn't think that it should.

I dont know what VMS is like but playback in Vegas Pro tends to choppy, in my experience, no matter how powerful the system

Derm, I'm doing the exact same thing I did in Vegas Pro 11 while using VMS and there is no problem at all with jerking and missing frames during playback. I couldn't even make a video the way Vegas Pro was/is acting. This is a major problem for me concerning Vegas Pro.

Is Sony working on a fix for this? One is needed very bad!

OK, my apologies. My playback preview setting had been changed. This is all my fault. It is entirely acceptable now. How embarrasing.

I am sorry but what does your experience with powerful systems and Vegas Pro include? My I7-3930K with a GTX580 gives me playback speeds of around 22fps. When I had a GTX570, it was slower. When I tried a Radeon HD-7970, I was getting 30 fps. My experience with powerful hardware and Vegas Pro does not seem to match yours at all.

Oh, I forgot to mention that those speeds I mentioned are at best and full resolution (1920 X 1080).

Thats what my experience is, I wish it was better
