Jittery JPEGs in photo montage

I extracted stills from VV3.0 timeline and rendered to avi and then attempted to record to VCR via VX2000 camera by using preview on device with device control disabled (just want the signal to pass through, not to record on camera) and am having portions of stills jitter or vibrate where there is any motion in scene no matter how minor, interlace artifact areas. I also encoded and burned exact same avi to VCD and there is no problem with stills. Any ideas on how to correct this. I could extract stills from tape to memory stick, to Sony photo program then into Vegas but what a pain.

The jitter you're seeing is due to motion between the first and second fields of a video frame. When you capture a still from the Video Preview, it's in whatever format is being shown in the Video Preview (size and format).

Solution: You can set your project to "progressive" (versus interlaced) so that these image get de-interlaced before you capture them. ("File, Properties, Field order").

Obviously, you've already picked up on another requirement, to set the Video Preview to "display at project size", otherwise you wouldn't be getting full-resolution images.

You should also set the Video Preview quality to "Best" when capturing images, to get the best result.
