Joining-merging NOT giving desired results

I am using Sony Vegas movie studio V11.
I often wish I could join segments that have been split (and a section deleted between them). I know about creating a group from smaller segments, but this is not giving me the desired results :

See

I have put together a video which is made up of a few dozen clips, some cut out bits from longer bits, some separate complete videos. I want to remove background noise using AUDACITY on the audio track.
It could easily have been some other reason where "Create NEw Group" might fail to give the desired results.

The best way ti understand is to watch the short 2-3 minute video. In a nutshell, creating a new group does NOT allow one to right click on the audio track and have the ENTIRE track sent to an audio editor.
I am fairly certain there are OTHER examples where the Create New Group action would fail as well.

Can anyone tell me...
HOW DO I DO IT????

Thanks

It would be nice to have the help files updated to better address this. I have searched for "Join" and "Merge" but have found no help. It might be in the help files, I just have not been able to think of any other keyword to use to find it (HELP... better help files with better Keyword cross referencing would be nice).

There is no direct way for joining segments as they become isolated once you split them. You can "restore" one of them to original size, but it's probably not what you want as original event will have cut out part as well as splits you want to use.
Nevertheless, you have an option to make new file that will contain only parts you need. Create loop region on top of timeline, containing only parts to merge and then make movie rendering loop region only (there should be special flag for it). Then delete original splits and import rendered file back to project on their place.

Instead of working with 'groups', create an additinal audio track for the audio events that need treatment, besides the events that don't need the treatment.

I just logged back in to check replies. Thanks for trying to help!

As I was reading the replies it occurred to me that the simplest way to join all the segments (audio and video) would be to RENDER to file. I expect the resulting file will have ONE complete video track and ONE complete audio track. It would be easier to post process the one audio track instead of the dozons that are in the original project.

Instead of rendering both video and audio it would be quicker to render just the audio then bring it back, after you've processed it, onto another audio track whilst muting the original.
