Select all the photos as a group (In the timeline click first photo, hold SHIFT and click last photo) - Then hold CTRL while dragging the end of the last photo - this changes the length of all selected photos.

i clicked the shift, 1st photo, last photo and the photos i want hightlight, while still holding shift, ipress ctrl and try draging right edge of last photo to the right ( i get a box with wavey line) but it just makes a blue high-lighted area across all the tracks to the right. I try just the ctrl and it selects the last photo only and i can resize it. What am i doing wrong??

After you have selected all the pictures press G to group them. Then Ctrl-drag will stretch them all together.

I selected all the events (clicked on 1st photo, Shift, then last photo) that I want to change, all the photos are highlighted. I then press G to group them. ( I also have tried Edit>Group>Create New) I hover over the last photo on the right edge, I get a box with a dotted line, I then press control I get a box with a wavy line under it. While still holding control, I left click the mouse and drag to the right. At this point it is selecting only the last photo in the timeline (the one I am hovering over), that one photo stretches the way I want the group, but only that one photo. I can see where the photos in the timeline are highlighted in the timeline (grouped together) I also have Cross-Fades set to happen auto when you drag in a group of photos. I started a new file, tried different photos. I have the .jpg photos on Track #3 (Video Track) – can this be part of the problem??

If you can grab the tail of your line of pictures and slide the whole shebang around, then they are grouped. If you leave behind orphans, they are not. If they are grouped, the control click stretch (or squish) thing will work like a charm. Don't get confused by transitions; once they are grouped they stay together with the transitions until you ungroup them.

the answer to your question is no. a video track is a video track.

If all else fails - add them to the group one at a time - or slide it around, find the orphans, and bring them "back into the fold". Have fun with it.
