Jumpy credit roll

I just completed a movie and added credits. The movie plays fine (thank the sweet lord), but the credit roll jumps. What's wrong and how do I get it to run smoothly (this happens quite a lot)?

Does it jump when you preview it or jump when viewing the final output from VMS (DVD or some other media)?

If it jumps during preview then I would suspect it is just your system unable to process the credit roll fast enough to display it smoothly. In that case you could try pre-rendering that section of the timeline.
