Hello everyone. I haven't posted for a long time....since I started with VF
I have done hundreds of projects now. Lots of things for friends.....tributes, biographys, some corporate stuff. I have just taught myself and soldiered through all the trials and tribulations. Most projects have been filming pictures then adding transitions and music etc. Everyone loves thier finished project. I am almost at a point that I could do this full time. I just did a 45 anniversary project for a ski club.....I got to ski free all winter, but it was more than I could handle so I went to my local video place for help. Its called CAVE center for the advancment for video excellance, Its been great! They are a not for profit org. that does community videos. I actually learned that I didn't need that much help but it was great to have the support.
I am great at the creative stuff but absolutly suck at the technical! I am lucky if I can find my files once I have saved them.
I recently purchased Nero DVD burning software....I really like it, but once again I am learning on my own.
The ski club paid 5000 dollars for the video and showing, I was still editting 2 hours before the showing!!!
I also did a little trade show loop of jpegs strung together...and charged them 200 dollars (they paid 1500 for the screen to show it on)
Most people are complaining about how little I charge!!!!!!
Anyway......I would like to talk to others who are doing business what do they charge? and...what are upgrades like for VF....should I get sound blaster....not available in Canada yet or Vegas...or what? Also what about Nero, I really like it and would like to use some of there editing stuff post VF but having some problems cutting and what not in Nero. Like I said I am not techie I'm creative!!
Thanks you guys have always been a great resource.............Deb in Barrie Ontario
