Just curious as to whats going on

I had a small 3 minute project on the timeline & decided to do a print to tape. This took about 15 minutes in total & went through 17 steps.

A while later I decided to make the same project into an AVI. This took about 3 & 1/2 minutes. Was the AVI file created with the data created in the 17 passes in the first job? If not what accounts for the differance in the time required to create the file? Just curious as to whats going on.

Not sure, but maybe the rendered portions for PTT (the little green bars above the timeline) were used and copied as parts of the avi, to save doing the same job twice.

Don't think Vegas Video 3 used to do this, but it maybe fixed in V4.

Vegas 4 uses existing prerenders for the final render if both formats match.

Earlier versions of Vegas did not do this.
