So I just noticed something else that's got me confused ( not surprised are ya ? ).
Just brought in some 16x9 footage and placed it on my timeline, project settings set to 16x9. One my external monitor it was squished. Went into Pan/Crop and though the bounding box had the entire clip framed, it wasn't till I switched the preset to 16x9 that it showed up correctly. To me this makes no sense as the bounding box had very little movement between the default when I imported it and changing the preset to 16x9.
