Just trying to understand 'Envelope'

Hi People...
I am new in this terms of DV. In past time I send a ask here about slowing down a movie, and yesterday I use envelope to made some ups and downs in a volume of a sound. So, basicly, am I right telling that envelope is a way u use to make some adjustments in a movie/track/image? So why this things wasn´t into plug-ins/VideoFX ?

Envelopes are not part of the DV world, per se, but are part of Vegas. It is just the way Vegas implements the abilities to modify your video.

If you want "envelope" control using other FX other then velocity etc then you need to learn how to keyframe. Each fx is key frameable over time which gives you lots of functionality.

You are correct that Vegas has several envelopes that can modify a portion of contents you place on the timeline. That's just the tip of the iceberg. The dozens of included FX filters do other things. Used in combination with envelopes you can adjust/change just about anything.

Envelopes add a line to which you add control points to control what's happening at a certain point. For example raising or lowers the volume or opacity of a track. Just double click on the line and push the added point up or down adding as many control points as you like.

Many FX filters support keyframing. Its similar to envelopes in that you can set key frames that determine what happens where.
