Just upgraded to Vegas 6 from 4 & having rendering errors

Hello all,

I've had Vegas 4.0+DVD Architect 1.0 for the last thirteen months and it worked great, had no problems with rendering. Just yesterday I just got the upgrade to Vegas 6.0+DVD Architect 3.0 and decided to reformat my computer and do a fresh Windows XP install before installing my new Vegas software. Everything installed great with no problems. When I try to render a finished MPEG2 file it starts and renders for a few minutes and then stops with a little popup that says, "Terminated due to unspecified errors" or something like that. I tried two different files with the same result. I haven't tried rebooting and rendering again yet because I ran out of time and had to leave for work, I'll have to try that later this evening. In the mean time, does anyone have any ideas and what I could do?

You don't give any details as to what settings you are using. If you do a quick search here, you will find people having problems using CBR. Are you using CBR? Did you try VBR too?

I use CBR and have always used CBR when I had Vegas 4.0 and never had any problems with it. I have not yet tried VBR with Vegas 6.0 and I hadn't planed on using it because I prefer CBR for quality.

I am having similar problems rendering to CBR as well. It looks as though there are not many of us who prefer to use CBR.
I hope there is a solution to this.

I forgot to mention that I even downloaded the update for Vegas 6.0 and installed that this morning. Still no dice. :(

I don't know if it will help, but I was recently having a problem rendering to MPEG-2 in VV 5.0d for NTSC DVD (CBR) after I had updated from an earlier version of 5.

It would render for a while and then suddenly return:

" An error occurred while creating the media file xxxx.mpg. The
reason for the error could not be determined".

Not a very helpful description, I thought. I eventually figured out that I could get past the problem if I went into the previously saved template I had been using and altered a setting.

The template's system tab had the "Audio Buffer size" set to 4. (If you use the field specific help, it says to use 4 for NTSC DVD). I noticed that the default NTSC DVD template comes up with 0 for this setting (which seemed strange since they recommended 4 for NTSC DVD which is what the template claims it is for...)

So, I changed this to a value of zero in my custom template, and so far I can render an hour of MPEG-2 without a problem (again).

I know it's a long shot, but you could check and see if you're using any settings in a saved template that may be causing a problem...
