JVC and monitor on external device

I have VV 3 and a JVC SR-VS30U. Everything works ok (no thanks to JVC), EXCEPT, when I try to preview on external monitor from the timeline, there is no "video device" (none) so I cannot preview on a TV (monitor). Whats up? My cheapo Sony camcorder works fine! Also, get this, I CAN preview from the Capture program when printing to tape.
Ideas?

Maybe something has to be changed in the JVC menu. Is there a JVC users group on the internet which collectively shares JVC related problems? In my experience the company is pretty unresponsive or doesn't have any answers.

the dll, (in the Vegas 3.0\Video Hardware Drivers subfolder), extmondrv.dll was not installed.
