JVC External monitor via camcorder

I'm trying to connect

PC (Vegas) - Fw - HV20 - Component - JVC monitor

but the Vergas preview does not display on the JVC.

The Preview Preferences is set to
OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394/DV
and details says:
Hot pluggable device
Device unavailable.

Why so? I can capture from the HV20 just fine so it's there.

Is there something I need to do to have it "available" in this dialog too?

My camcorder has to be in VCR mode for this to work. Also check your camcorder's menus for a DV in setting and make sure it's enabled. Are you able to print to tape on that camcorder?

Like Chienworks says, many camcorders have a setting labeled something like "DV --> A/V out". This determines which way the DV <--> A/V conversion is going.

Chienworks,

I took some "generated media" and tried to print to tape.

1. Tools>Print to HDV Tape

Dialog box appears and HV20 is listed as well as 1080-50i, 1080-60i

2. I click Next (there is not much for me to do - HV20 already selected)

3. Next "page" I took the default - "Render Format" and just accepted everything else... and clicked Next.

Third "page" is just greyed out. There is nothing I can select and "Finish" is also grey - I'm stuck.

Trying to "Print to Tape" instead and then HV20 is no option but instead I choose OHCI ... IEEE 1394...
The big frame in the middle just says "Device Not available"

I'm puzzled.

Surely one can record to the HV20 over FW - or?
