JVC GZ-HD7 .tod files

Does anyone know if or when Vegas will recognize JVC .tod files.
The cyberlink software that came with it is not that good. It is not up to par with the quality of this cam. Also have Sony HDR-HC3 that works great but wanted full manual control so I got the GZ-HD7.
Please help if you know of anyway around having to use the supplied software to convert .tod files to mpg
Thanks

I think I had read someplace that you can rename the files with an mpg extension. Try taking one of your clips and renaming the extension from .tod to .mpg and see if you can open it in Vegas.

Let us know if it works and also - what are your thoughts on this camera???

I've tried that... Strangely enough, if you change the extension to M2T, Avid liquid 7 will open/edit it... but Vegas still will not............. so what's up here???

Bump.

So nobody can answer this?

I'm really quite stunned that liquid can open something that vegas can't... usually it's the other way around.

I changed file extension to mpg and still wont open in vegas, although the computer vegas is on cannot be updated as it is not internet capable. I was able to open the file on my internet computer in windows media player. New computer on the way so we will see.
The JVC GZ-HD7 so far has proved a great camcorder. Great build quality and the picture is WOW on my bigscreen. Lots of pro capabilities. Everything can be set manually. Only gripes are the viewfinder has terrible peripheral softness. I hardly use it so I dont care about that. The manual focus is servo driven and so it tends to be SLIGHTLY behind your actions when you focus. With practice I have mastered this though. Biggest gripe is the OIS is almost worthless. My Sony HDR-HC3 has great OIS that the JVC just cant match. Overall though I am very pleased and am now able to shoot video in ways I could only dream of before.
I will post my findings once I get my computer up and loaded to see how this cam fairs with Vegas 7e
