Keep thumbnails visible

Hi all,

If this is an option, I've never found it.

There are lots of items in my media bin while I'm working, including many photos. Every time I move through the thumbnails, VMS takes a lot of time recreating them, especially the still photos, whose originals are large. It's done this since way before it was a Sony product.

This is the biggest slowdown in productivity (other than rendering, of course). Is there a way to keep the thumbnails? I just don't see it in the options -- maybe it's there?

Thanks,
Dennis

I don't think there is any. BTW, on VMS8 thumbnail creation and project loading is much faster than on 7.

Thanks, Eugenia. Project opening is faster on VMS8, but thumbnail creation is still slow when there are a lot of still photos and time is short. :)

Thanks again,
Dennis

v7 & v8

Thumbnails.
In media manager, click on the "books with little arrow" (media library actions) button

Click on options
Thumbnails
Performance increase for you - increase the size of your "limit common folder size" value.

Make it a fairly bigger number, create your thumbnails in your spare time, and then they'll be remembered for future.

Where is the Media Manager? I don't see it in the Options/Preferences or Toosl. I have a "Project Media" pane with thumbnails. In the thumbnail pane, I'm not seeing a media manager or a media library actions button. I've got, left to right:
Remove unused media
Import media
Capture video
Get photo
Extract audio from CD
Remove selected media from project
Media properties
Media FX
Start preview
Stop preview
Auto preview
Views
Search media bins

Where do I find this?

I do not think Media Manager comes with VMS - only with the full version

Yes - of course.. My bad there - sorry - it was late at night. The media manager is in the full version only.
