I am using Movie Studio 8.0 and I have a Q/A about kcapturing video clips and then saving them to be edited??

This is what I mean. When I capture a video clpi it is of 720 x 4801 NTSC DV

Then I cut out everything I don't want and rende it as AVI File

I am not sure but I think it is uncompressed so I think I can keep it and put it in anything I do latter??

Am I right or should I be saving my clips diferently.....I want to save them as Is with no or little compration.
Am I doing it right??

Use the .avi, click "custom", and make sure the "cineform codec" is selected. That's the best solution for an intermediate format on Vegas.

If you really are doing only cuts and nothing else then rendering to DV .avi is the best choice. It will be the same format as you are capturing in and Vegas won't recompress, so there will be zero quality loss. Using cineform for this would involve changing the file to a different format and different compression, and then changing it back when using it later so that would add two more stages of quality loss. Stick with DV.

If you are doing other things like color correction then DV is the second best choice and uncompressed AVI is the best, but only by a tiny fraction. Uncompressed is about 8 times as big as DV and it's really not worth the extra disk space.

While DV might have an edge when it doesn't need to be re-encoded, between cineform and uncompressed I would go with cineform.
