Hi there
I have been using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum ProPack for about a year now. Although I have had a few issues along the way, I have gotten round most of them, and the software has enabled me to edit and create videos in a fun and surprisingly comprehensive way.
I recently purchased Sony Vegas Movie Studio v10 HD Platinum Production Suite. I bought the full package, rather than an upgrade to my version 9, as the price at PC World was so reasonable.
My dilemma is whether I should remove v9 before installing v10, or, ideally I would like to have both versions installed if that is possible without messing things up. That way, I could try version 10 for a while and make sure it works well for me before I risk removing version 9. I have spent so much time setting up templates, tweaking settings etc that I would hate to have to 'start over' again.
My main questions regarding having both versions installed are:
1) Firstly, is it possible to have two versions (v9 & v10) installed at the same time? I am sure that I have read somewhere that it is possible but I can't find where I read that.
2) I have purchased several NewBlue Video Effects packages (such as Video Essentials I, II & III etc) - would I be easily able to access these third party plugins from both installed versions 9 & 10 of Vegas? Or will they only work in one installed version of SVMS?
3) One big issue I had with SVMS 9 was the 'missing audio' with some imported video files. This was because I had to ensure that I kept an older version of Quicktime installed, which I have managed to do. However, in SVMS 10 I believe that issue has been addressed so I think ver10 will expect latest version of Quicktime. Do you think this will this cause issues?
4) I think I would like to be able to open up my older video projects in my version 9 of SVMS as that was what created the videos. Maybe this is one of the main reasons for wanting to keep v9 installed alongside v10 - but is that an issue?
Any help with the above questions would be very much appreciated. I guess that if anyone has actually done what I want to do (i.e. they have both v9 & v10 of Vegas installed) I would be very keen to hear their experience and if they have any tips and advice, keeping old settings, using existing plugins and templates etc.
Many thanks for taking the time to read my post.
