What a Totally Stunning Design concept! In keyboards a keyboard that has illuminated and self-adjusted keys FOR the packaged you are using! Brilliant! So obvious . . .

Yeah but what's it like to type on?
Most modern keyboards feel like you're typing in porridge, I'm still sticking to my buckling spring IBM.
If you want to see some freaky keyboards there's a web site around somewhere that's sort of a museum of keybords, the 'chording' keyboards are the wierdest ones but I'd best once you got the knack they'd be super fast. And some time ago I saw a keyboard that was laser projected onto your desk.
In reality the whole idea of using a keyboard is to not look at it!

OK, found the link:

Some of these designs are really out there although in practice perhaps not that wierd.

I for one... DO like visuals. Maybe that's why I'm a Video Editor?
I definitely like the look of that keyboard. It would be even cooler if they had a Mouse to go with it. (they probably do)

You want your studio to look nice. When clients walk in you want them to feel that they are in a Creative/Cutting Edge environment. Looks DO matter to most. Just depends on what look you're going for. I think that's why Mac <-- yep, I said it... is believed to be the 'Designers' tool. It's simply because of it's innovative design. I've had more people comment on my Mac when they walk into my studio than I would have ever thought. Even though I edit their pieces on PC (Avid or Vegas) they still notice the Mac.

Currently I use a very plain/basic black keyboard and matching TrackBall mouse. I hate the Keyboards that have all the shortcut buttons all over it. They look very Amatuer & Immature to me. I prefer the more Mature & Sleek look.

Every once in a while I do like to ''freshen up' the look though. It helps to keep my thoughts and ideas 'fresh'. I wouldn't mind having this Keyboard on my desk. Plus it looks like by having this keyboard you wouldn't have to buy a 'Vegas Keyboard' - 'Photoshop Keyboard' - 'Avid Keyboard' - etc. You could just buy the one and be done.

Vaporware?

It looks like this to me...

Altought it would certainely be a wonderfull thing and oled screens are becomming cheaper and better.

I posted about this yesterday. The company is releasing a 3 key version in May. I don't think it's vaporware at all.

For me this is now about looks but about efficiency, this keyboard will be able to display shortcuts depending on the app that is active, this for me will help me learn te shortcuts faster so I will be more productive...

Nat,

That's only if it works. I think folks agree it's a great idea. Their website says this was suppossed to be available in 2005. Perhaps they are just delayed. Perhaps they can't work out the bugs.

By the way check out the posters on that website. Their logo is a sylized barcode and they implemented that design idea, in a lot of very cool ways. Very creative.

As long as it is no more expensive than my top of the line Mickysoft keyboard, at $39.99 down at the local Best Buy, where I can try it out for feel and NOISE, I might consider it. But the Gee Wiz factor wore off me a long time ago.

If it could be programmed so all the keys flash red when ripple edit is on it'd be worth whatever the asking price is.

The full oled keyboard would be excellent. I don't see much use in the 3 key one. With all the people and groups that do after-market stuff for Vegas, it would not be long to have a set of Vegas templates. It would be helpful to me as I'm still having to use the keyboard key quick ref. An oled kboard would eliminate a lot of that...
