Kids' Animation film on Louisiana

Hi,

Here is the address for my class's animation film made with Vegas! Thanks for all of the help on the project. It's very small--so get out your magnifying glasses or squint to view it! But at least the computer wizards put it on the web!

Once again--thanks for all of your help!!!! This forum is a life saver. There were a lots of times that I was really stuck and ya'll told me how to fix things or make it better.

Sonic Foundry people --this is a great product! I presented the film to other teachers today at the Heritage Ed. meeting, so hopefully all of them will buy Vegas!

Now that was very impressive! It looks like you got all the lighting problems solved and everything went smoothly. I especially enjoyed all the kids providing the sound effects :)

Great work Miss Buco!
Smiled more than once and learned.
You definetely are a hard worker!
I too liked the sound effects... and the way some kids pronounced their names during generic (for example, Richard: Ree-shar).
Well, yes, I'm french... ;)

So the question now is: when's your next one?

Great work and a real treat for an exiled Louisianan living in TN. Thank you for sharing and thank you for being a great teacher!

Hiya,

I'm in the process of downloading the film right now. Can't wait to check it out.

Here is an option - if you hadn't thought of it. There is a very quick way to make this file streamable from your website.

I'll walk you through the steps, if you would like.

I like having my films stream via my site. some folks don't like to download stuff.

Debbie, how brave and clever you are. To take on such a big project in a field where you had so little experience; to struggle through it, and to bring about such a splendid result. It's not only the execution - which hardly look like beginner's work - but the ideas, the concept. I'm amazed, and I'm going to show it to the teachers at my daughter's school. Thank you very much.
With teachers like you, maybe America has a future after all :-)

Thanks for all of the compliments! I'm going to let the kids read them on Monday!!! I keep telling them that real people have jobs making films using the same software, but I'm not sure they believe me! I appreciate all of your kind words about the film. It's the most fun I've had in awhile and the kids are very proud of themselves. The ideas for the scenes and the humor are all theirs. Also the narration. I just kept asking, "What do you want to film?" and "What do you want to say?" They are a very creative bunch and utterly fearless when it comes to technology.

Thanks again,
Debbie

This is truly amazing. You need to submit this to your local PBS station. I don't even want to know how many hours were spent on the stop motion stuff....and the subtle vocal sound effects are as good as any of Terry Gilliam's Monty Python cartoons. I was in tears at the Canadian "Oh no!". The readings remind me of the Peanuts cartoons.

Overall, awesome. I wish I was in your class at that age. Kudos all around.

Please Miss!! Can I come and join your film School? - I live in London Uk, and would like to travel to the Land of Cajun Music - What a life enhancing piece you and your ****STARS**** have produced. - I was actually weeping a little bit there - laughing and sharing it with my partner here in London. I too like the "Oh No!" - and and and . . . the bit where "Laura" left anway!!! Larf!!

I liked your approach to the organisation of the artwork . The layout of the piece and the use of complimentary colours for the backgrounds. I've used a fine piece of software for getting ideas into some format - Inspirations Plus - great s/w learning and educational tool.

So you guys! You gotta an International audience too!

Debbie well done . . . sequel???

Grazie

Hiya,
Thanks for offering to show me how to make the film streamable. Unfortunately, the computer wizards from the school board are in charge of all that.

Absolutely superb. I just quadrupled my knowledge of Louisiana thanks to the kids and this film.

If you have any spare time (does a teacher have spare time?) you might want to see if you could encode at a lower bit-rate than 3,145kbps. This would speed up the download process considerably and might not sacrifice picture quality on this type of material.

But that's a minor 'techy' quibble (since I'm on broadband). The program itself is great. You should all be very proud of your accomplishment here.
