Kind of After Effects for Vegas

I've seen around here people asking for a kind of "After Effects" for Vegas. Personally, I guess After Effects is such a nice application, but its learning curve is definitely very, very difficult. That's what make After Effects someway counterproductive. Want an exemple? Let's see something: I've bought a pc magazine around here where I live, last weekend. Its name is Digital Designer. There, a famous video "consultant" teaches, or at least, tried to show how to animate a background for DVD with the help of After Effects. After 4 1/2 hours trying to follow the guide I gave up and got back to Vegas. I did the same thing, in 30 minutes. That's what make me think Vegas is too powerful and hence (I would say) there's absolutely no need for an "After Effects" for Vegas. I found everything I needed among its Video FX (just couldn't find a grid generator, but I made that with Photoshop). Cheers to Vegas. If you're curious...the outcome is on Chienworks' site http://www.vegasusers.com/vegshare/ (here instead of the grid for the background, you'll find another stuff - "news print" - still don't know how it will show on regular tv), but anyway, if you want, please look for the name cunhambebe-project_new_menu.

There is a lot of truth to what you bring up, but AE is an important and necessary tool for many things. Plus, it acts as a host for a lot of very needful plugins.
It does have a challenging learning curve, but certainly not insurmountable.
I've quit using AE to the point that I've forgotten some things that are there. I still use it for some 3D stuff that Vegas can't do, and for some plugs that I can't EASILY create in Vegas. Same with Commotion Pro, and some other tools I use. But Vegas replaces about 90% of what I'd do in AE. Now if Vegas just had a motion tracker, assignable path, and extrusion or plugs that create extrusion... AE could forever go away for me. :-)

You mean particles?

No, extrusions from vectors. Not true extrusion in the sense of 3D, but extruded letters, and adding "phat" to vectors. Adding depth rather than extrusion is probably a better way to explain.

Wasn't there discussion awhile back that Satish was developing Wax to use AE plugins for use in Vegas? Or did I dream that?

Yes, if I'm not mistaken....I am almost sure I've heard something about it....
